森林浴 (Jap.) - forest bathing, visiting the woods to soothe oneself mentally. 'Forest bathing' is great for your health. In Japan people practice something called forest bathing, or shinrin-yoku. Shinrin in Japanese means “forest,” and yoku means “bath.” So shinrin-yoku means bathing in the forest atmosphere, or taking in the forest through our senses. The term Shinrin-yoku was coined by the Japanese Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries in 1982.
It can be said that shinrin-yoku is almost like an update of the zen phenomenon in that it has a similar usage within a western context.
